Kodo Millet Vegetable Pulao 

Kodo Millet is one of the 5 Siridhanya or 5 Nutritious Millets. We have tried to make a yummy & simple vegetable pulao recipe.

Trust me, millets are delicious to eat! It’s all about trying and making them into recipes we are familiar with. So here is a yummy Kodo Millet Vegetable Pulao you can make for your kids & family. It’s as simple as replacing rice with Kodo Millet, just that you need to soak the millet for 2-3 hours. It turns out soft, non-sticky, and really delicious.

This millet is extremely nutritious as compared to white polished rice. It has more minerals, fiber, Vitamin B profile, etc.

Ingredients

-Kodo Millet – 1 cup

-Chopped vegetables – 1 cup

-Chopped Onion – ¼ cup

-Chopped mint & coriander leaves – 3 tbsp

-Ginger- garlic paste -2 tbsp

-Cardamom -2

-Cloves – 2

-Cinnamon – 1 inch

-Slit green chilli -2

-Salt -1.5 tbsp

-Oil /ghee -1 tbsp

 

Method Of Preparation

-Heat oil/ghee in a pan

-Add cloves, cinnamon & cardamom. Fry for a minute

-Add chopped onions and fry for 3 minutes

-Add ginger garlic paste. Let it cook till the raw smell disappears

-Add chopped vegetables, coriander & mint leaves. Mix wel

-Add salt & 2 cups of water.

-When water starts to boil, add the rinsed & soaked millet

-Cook on medium flame for 20 minutes.

-Enjoy hot Kodo Millet pulav with raita

If you want to feed them to your younger babies, make the seasoning less spicier. Feed them with a cup of curd.
