The next recipe idea using Kodo millet in our Millet Of The Week #MOW series, are the Kodo Millet Cutlets! Serve these as evening snacks and your family will come back asking for more!
To make Kodi Millet Cutlets-
Ingredients:
-Kodo Millet – ½ cup
-Medium sized Potatoes – 2
-Grated carrot – ½ cup
-Green Peas boiled and mashed– ¼ cup
-Ginger garlic Paste – 2 tsp
-Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
-Hing – a pinch
-Rock salt – 1 tsp
-Jeera/cumin powder – 1 tsp
-Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
-Coriander Leaves – few
-Cold pressed oil as required
Method:
1. Soak Kodo millet for about 4 hours in water. In a pressure cooker, add 1.5 cups water and let it come to a boil. As soon as the water boils, add the soaked kodo millet and let it cook for 2-3 whistles
2. Boil, peel and mash the potatoes, in the meantime
3. Boil and mash peas too
4. In a bowl, add potatoes, green peas, grated carrots, cooked kodo, ginger garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric powder, cumin powder, hing, rock salt and coriander leaves
5. Mix everything well
6. Take a ball sized portion in your palms and press to make the desired shape
7. Heat a little oil in a pan
8. Shallow fry the cutlets until golden brown
9. Remove and use a paper towel to drain the excess oil
