Jowar Appe

Jowar Appe for Kids! Jowar or Sorghum is a millet with high iron & protein. Great breakfast or evening snack for kids & everyone one in the family and we are sure you will make them again!

Ingredients

For the batter
-1 cup – Jowar/Sorghum flour
-1 cup – Rice
-1/4 cup – Urad Dal
-1 Handful of Poha

Masala for Jowar Appe
-1/2 tsp ginger paste
-1/2 tsp haldi
-1 tsp garam masala
-1/2 tsp coriander powder
-1/2 tsp jeera powder
-Salt (skip if making for kids below 1 year)
-Cold Pressed Oil/ghee
-Water

Method Of Preparation for Batter

1.Wash all the grains for the batter prep
2.Soak them in 3 cups of water for 4 hours
3.Grind it into a smooth paste in a mixer for 2 mins
4.Pour into a broad bowl. Cover it and leave it to ferment overnight in a warm place for 7 to 8 hours

Method Of Preparation for Jowar Appe

1.In a bowl, combine the batter & masala ingredients along with water and mix well. The batter should be slightly thick but have a flowing consistency. Add water as required to get desired consistency
2.Heat an appe mould and grease it with oil/ghee. Once the mould is hot enough, pour the batter into the mould
3.Cover the mould with a pan and cook them until the bottom turns golden brown. Flip the appe and cook the other side too
4.Remove from mould and serve hot
5.Enjoy with homemade mint-coriander chutney
