Jowar Idlis are a healthy breakfast option not just for the kids but for the entire family! Jowar or Sorghum Millet is rich in iron & fibre. But don’t just eat/feed it for the iron, but there are a ton of other bio enzymes and nutrients that we are not aware of. It’s important to feed a variety, so hence the recipe for your little ones.
What all you need:
½ cups Sorghum Rava (Jowar rava)
½ cup Urad dal
Salt to Taste (avoid below one year)
Method:
1.Soak Sorghum rawa in just enough water for 5 hours. Soak urad dal separately for 5 hours.
2.Grind the urad dal into a smooth batter using just enough water. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
3.Drain Sorghum rava and add to urad dal. If the rawa seems too coarse, then grind it in the mixer for a few more seconds, now mix with urad dal.
4.Cover the bowl and set aside in a room temperature to ferment for at least 8-10 hours.
5.Mixture will get frothy when ready.
6.Add salt to the mixture and mix well.
7.Lightly grease the idli moulds and pour the batter evenly. Steam for 10 minutes.
And DONE !! Serve these yummy jowar idlis hot with chutney of choice, flax seeds chutney powder with sesame oil, sambhar etc.
