How to Make Ragi Batter from Ragi Flour

If you have Ragi flour at home and want to make some soft idlis, follow this recipe 🙂

Age: You can feed this to babies above 8 months. Feed a little ajwain to help ease any gas issues from the urad dal.

How to make Ragi Batter without the Ragi grains?

Ingredients:
– 3 cups of Ragi flour
– 1 cup Urad Dal
– 1 Handful of Poha

Method:
– Wash & soak the udad dal & poha for 4 hours.
– Mix with Ragi flour and then grind into a batter in a mixer for 1-2 minutes. No need of a grinder.
– Add some water if needed to make the batter (not too much)
– Once the batter is made, pour into a broad bowl for fermentation.
– Cover and leave it in a warm place for 6-8 hours.
– Once you see the batter has risen (airy bubbles formed) that is when the batter is ready to use
– Pour into idli pans or dosa tawa and enjoy your yummy millet breakfast with chutney or sambhar

Note: If you have left over batter, keep it in the fridge so that it does not get sour.
Using the batter before 24 hours will be the best. But at max try to finish in 2 days.

Keep Milleting. Please ask any questions in the comments. Would love to help.
