Rava Porridge for Babies

Rava Porridge

Rava/Suji/Semolina Porridge for Babies & Toddlers. Rava is easy to digest and quick to cook a simple porridge for babies. Mostly importantly, it begins to teach babies to chew because of its texture.

Age: 8 months and above. Rava has a little rough texture, so its porridge really helps babies move away from the soft puree texture that can be easily swallowed. This grainy texture makes them slowly learn about chewing their food.

Ingredients:
-1 tbsp Roasted fine semolina/rava/suji
-1 tsp Dry fruits powder (Try Early Foods Dry Fruits & Seeds powder too)
-A pinch of cardamom
-1 tbsp Powdered jaggery / Early Foods Dates Powder (optional for babies)
-½ tsp Homemade Ghee, preferably made with A2 Gir Cow Milk
-1 cup water
-1 cup milk (breast milk/ Cow Milk/Fresh Coconut milk)

Method:

1.Take a pan, boil water and then add roasted Suji. Mix it well and make sure that there are no lumps formed. Cook in low flame. Stir it continuously while cooking otherwise porridge may stick to the pan.

2.Now add jaggery and dry fruits powder. If the mixture is getting thick you can mix water accordingly. Cook it further for 3 minutes or until it is thick and switch off the flame once done. The porridge becomes thick after cooling down. So switch off the flame accordingly.

3.Now add a cup of Warm boiled cow’s milk/breast milk/coconut milk and cardamom to the cooked semolina.

4.Serve with any fruit like banana or grapes.

Important Note:
Don’t cook breast milk or add it to very hot porridge. Add it only when luke warm. Similarly dont add or boil formula milk or coconut milk. These can be added when the porridge is warm. It need not be cooked.
